This is what it looked like when the Gothenburg Opera was completed

160 meters long and with a clear wink to the marine environment. So eventually became the Gothenburg Opera House. But that was not at all obvious.

The project itself has long been seriously questioned, and the question of where the building would end up was also a hot potato. But on September 30, 1994, King Carl XVI Gustaf was on site to inaugurate the Gothenburg Opera.
