Over the past ten years, the number of centenarians in Russia has increased by more than 2.5 times, TASS reports citing data from Rosstat. At the beginning of 2019, 20,582 people were registered in the country - men and women over 100 years old.
At the same time, in 2009, 7718 people older than 100 lived in Russia.
According to a study by Rosstat, there are almost 2.5 times more female long-livers (14 687) in Russia than men (5895).
It was previously reported that the average age of a Russian resident, according to data for 2018, was 40.02 years.
