“Since 2014, we have been able to virtually restart the Ukrainian film industry. This period is called the revival of Ukrainian cinema, the birth of a new Ukrainian cinema ... Now, representatives of the new government are confidently returning Ukrainian cinema six years ago, ”Poroshenko said.

According to him, this is due to the fact that the bill “On state support for cinematography in Ukraine” was adopted in the first reading, which, he noted, deprives Ukrainian filmmakers of compensation from the state budget and provides such an opportunity to foreign producers.

“First of all, such conditions constitute discrimination against Ukrainian producers and contradict Article 24 of the Constitution of Ukraine. In addition, this law slows down the development of Ukrainian films, because our filmmakers will be forced to create films abroad. This can lead to a complete loss of competitiveness in the market, ”he said.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he would make every effort to make Ukraine a “powerful cinematic power.”
