Breisach (dpa) - With the registrar on the tightrope: The tightrope artist Anna Traber (33) has married meters high above the market square of her hometown Breisach am Rhein near Freiburg.
For the wedding ceremony on Saturday at dizzy heights, the bride and groom and the registrar ventured onto a wire rope stretched high above the square. "Every marriage is a tightrope act," said Traber the German Press Agency: "For our marriage, the tightrope is the right starting point and a good omen."
The groom Sven Lier (32) does not come from a family of artists in contrast to Traber. The bride's father Johann Traber (66) drove the couple with a motorcycle over the rope. The registrar, Breisach's mayor Oliver Rein (CDU), also had to be free from giddiness. He could not avoid a ride in the trapeze of the motorbike to perform the wedding on the market square.
The bride and father of the bride are part of the artist family Traber, whose roots are in the small town Breisach (district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald) in Baden-Württemberg. The family is said to have been artistically active since the 16th century. She specializes in high rope artistry.
