The meeting of the PDCI and the FPI was held this Saturday, September 14 in Abidjan. This is the first time that the two oldest political groups in the country, historically opposed, join forces for the conquest of power. The theme of this first joint event: national reconciliation.

With 6,000 to 7,000 people mobilized at the Treichville sports park, the first joint meeting of Bédié's PDCI and Gbagbo's FPI is a success. The stands were full, the lawn fully occupied, with a strong presence of law enforcement, for this unprecedented event. This is the first time that the blue and green colors of the FPI and the PDCI have been mixed in a popular event.

Apart from Henri Konan Bédié and Laurent Gbagbo, the big names of the opposition parties were present: the number 2 of the PDCI Maurice Kakou Guikahué, the secretary general of the FPI Assoa Adou, as well as the representatives of the parties close to the former president of the the National Assembly Guillaume Soro, traveling abroad for several months.

But it is especially Simone Gbagbo who marked the event of his presence. On tour inside the country for many weeks, the former First Lady was no longer talking about her nationally. The "iron lady", very silent about her intentions in the run-up to the presidential election, preferred to remain silent during the meeting. Unlike his opposition allies, who harangued the crowd one after the other.

In their speeches, the opponents have in turn called for genuine national reconciliation, which they blame President Alassane Ouattara for failure. They again demanded the release of all political prisoners and the return to Côte d'Ivoire of Laurent Gbagbo and his Minister of Youth, Charles Blé Goudé.

For the opponents, this meeting was only a warm-up lap . They call their activists to a massive mobilization for their next meeting at the stadium Felix Houphouet-Boigny and its 35,000 seats.
