Yellow vests demonstrated Saturday throughout France, including Nantes where they called for a national rally, on the occasion of their "act 44" marked by clashes with police, arrests, wounded and many degradations.

Some 1,800 people marched in Nantes, according to the police, and in the afternoon there were clashes that left several people injured.

Protesters, few of whom sported the fluorescent vest, moved from the affluent west of the city to the center, where the situation escalated in the middle of the afternoon, resulting in projectile throwing, to which police responded with tear gas grenades. The police system was particularly imposing, with several armored vehicles positioned in the center.

"Justice for Steve, no forgetfulness or forgiveness", "Less suits, more lobsters" could be read on signs. Protesters chanted "Everyone hates the police", "The mutilated police, the murderous police".

Many businesses and bus shelters have been degraded, garbage cans and a transformer burned. At least two protesters were injured, AFP reported.

At 8:00 pm, 35 people were arrested, according to the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP), which reported five wounded in law enforcement.

Several groups of Yellow Vests had called for a national rally in Nantes to revive the movement, almost a year after its debut, in a city marked by the death of Steve Maia Caniço.

"We want a new company"

About 700 people, according to the police, protested in Nancy, the gathering point of the Yellow Vests of the Great East. The protesters shouted "Macron resignation", before tensions burst at the end of the journey, the police using tear gas and grenades deencclement, according to an AFP photographer.

In Paris, some 500 people marched peacefully between Porte de Choisy and Boulevard Grenelle, near the Eiffel Tower, where they dispersed in the afternoon.

Among them were many retirees, like Jean-Michel, 70, who came to claim the departure of Emmanuel Macron. "Only 20% of people really voted for him, we want a new society and new elections proportional integral," he told AFP. A hundred protesters also met at Orly airport to protest the planned privatization of Paris airports.

In Lyon, some 400 demonstrators gathered on Place Bellecour. Brief clashes erupted and eleven people were arrested, according to the prefecture.

In Toulouse, several hundred people demonstrated in the center shouting "Toulouse, Toulouse, get up". Dozens of demonstrators briefly occupied the quays of Toulouse Matabiau station.

In Marseille, 200 people, including about fifty carrying the symbolic chasuble, paraded behind a banner calling for the "suppression of the IGPN, in the service of laundering policies".
