For several years, the school has suffered from financial deficits, too few pupils and criticism from the school inspection. According to the Children and Education Board, which at the same time received savings requirements from the municipal council at school, says that closure would mean a solution to many of the problems.

- The students will be able to walk in, for example, Växjö and Vetlanda instead. Today we have a group of students from Uppvidinge who attend Katrineholm, says Jan Wernström (S), chair of the children's and education board in Uppvidinge municipality.
