September 13, 2019A violent fire broke out at the Igs, a company based in the Avellino industrial center that produces plastic containers for automotive batteries. The flames developed shortly after 1.30pm in the square outside the company where the productions had been stored. There are no reports of injuries or intoxications. The Prefect of Avellino, Maria Tirone, has summoned the Emergency Relief Coordination Center. A high black cloud, visible from all over the city, has risen while numerous fire brigades are working to circumscribe and extinguish the flames. As a precaution, the nearby companies are evacuated and special security measures have been put in place to prevent the flames from spreading to a fuel service station located a few dozen meters from the Igs. Arpac technicians are also on site to evaluate the toxic substances released into the air and into the surrounding environment.
