Al Jazeera has received photos and information about a huge palace currently under construction to be the residence of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The palace is located in Cairo's new administrative capital. Photos show that the presidential residence alone is 50,000 square meters, while the White House is only 5,000 square meters.

The general site of the palace, surrounded by an external wall, is estimated at 2.3 million square meters.

There is an outdoor space designed to be a sanctuary for the main entrance of the palace, amounting to 180 thousand square meters, which means that the total area of the palace is more than 2.5 million square meters.

Based on construction costs in the administrative capital, a single floor of the palace would cost the Egyptian treasury 2.25 billion pounds.

This is enough to build 125 schools or 16 central hospitals in the country.
