The region of Siliana in Tunisia is one of the poorest in the country. During the campaign period, rural areas in Tunisia are among the most targeted by the promises of some candidates, but many people feel disillusioned.

France 24 met with young members of an association for the development of the city, disappointed by the abandonment of an agri-food industry project that was to provide employment in the region. It was a promise made in 2012 by one of the presidential candidates on Sunday, September 15th.

Rural people are not the only ones who feel abandoned. In the suburbs of Tunis, in Raoued where the insalubrity reigns, some decided to organize themselves. Hassen, one of the residents of the neighborhood, passes pipes on the ground with his neighbors to drain water to his home. He will not go to vote.

This year's election campaign has been marked by debate over corruption and integrity, but candidates must still win the trust of disenchanted voters.
