In Norway, a large number of dogs have been sick with vomiting and severe diarrhea. About 30 dogs have also died. The Norwegian authorities currently do not know what the dog disease is due to, but say it does not appear to be contagious.

Many Norwegian dogs

On Monday, September 16, a large number of Norwegian dogs are expected to participate in the Swedish rip-hunting, which then opens for foreign hunters. But the Swedish Hunters' Association is skeptical of it as long as dog disease is not completely under control in Norway.

Want to close the border

- Here Swedish authorities should act according to the precautionary principle and temporarily close the limit for Norwegian dogs until it is clarified what it is for disease and that it is really not contagious, says Magnus Hansson, a hunting consultant at the Swedish hunting association in Jämtland.

It is the Swedish Board of Agriculture that can make such a decision, but there are no such plans. The county veterinarian in Jämtland, Åsa Regnander Dahl, says in a comment to SVT Jämtland that the only thing they can do is appeal to Norwegian hunters to leave their dogs at home.

Avoid contact

In a press release, the County Administrative Board also urges that Swedish dogs, as far as possible, should avoid close contact with Norwegian dogs.
