The P-spin has been stationary for about 1.5 months since a power outage knocked out the control system. The City of Stockholm offers the owners car hire while the cars are fixed. Free on-site parking is also available at nearby locations.

Crane and forklift

The technique used in the P-spin is Italian and Swedish technicians have no knowledge of the system. Italian technicians will therefore be flown to Stockholm next week to try to fix the problem. If the system cannot be restored, you will have to hit the walls and then use the lifting crane and forklift to lift the cars.

After that, the City of Stockholm may have to bar the parking lot again for good.

- I think that risk is quite great because we do not want a facility where customers risk getting their cars fixed for a couple of months, says Christian Rockberger, CEO of Stockholm Parking.

- There will be no more spins of this technology. Maybe a mechanical garage, but then we will choose a technology that is more established in the immediate area.

The parking garage is four floors high and works automatically. The cars are lifted by a sled which moves them to a vacant space in the parking garage.
