It is impossible not to notice the 12-storey Focus House in the middle of what remains of Malmberget. It stands as a monument to the decommissioning of the once vibrant mining community.

But the mine that gave birth to the community also became its pioneer.

It is the expansion of the mine that means that all of the floor plan has been emptied of its regular tenants and all shops and restaurants on the ground floor and closed and moved out.

Wakes to life one last time

But now the house will be brought to life one last time. There will be exhibitions, concerts and other events for a whole week. We have looked in and offer a little glimpse of what is being arranged, including an apartment that should look like when the house was newly built in 1962.
