Boone Pickens, who is one of the famous American investors and known for making a hostile takeover in Japan in 1989, died on the 11th. I was 91 years old.
Born in Oklahoma, South America, after working for an oil company, Mr. Pickens started his own company and gained huge wealth centered on the investment business.
Especially known as “hostile takeover” for companies, in 1989 when Japan was in a bubble economy, it became the largest shareholder of Koito Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a major auto parts manufacturer, and strengthened management interventions such as the appointment of officers .
Pickens's method, which had already been acquired in the United States, is to make profits by buying the stocks that he bought up at a high price by partner companies and related parties, and from the color of American dollar bills etc. It was also called “Green Mailer”.
The acquisition of Koito Manufacturing at that time lasted for over two years, but Toyota Motor Corporation, the largest shareholder, later resisted, and Mr. Pickens was forced to withdraw.
