Trump may nominate Pompeo in place of Bolton
US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of appointing as his assistant for national security the current Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, who will occupy two posts in this case.
It is reported by CNN.
It is noted that previously these two posts were combined once, when Henry Kissinger was Secretary of State and National Security Advisor.
It is also reported that Trump mentioned that he is considering five candidates for the vacant post.
On September 10, Donald Trump announced that he had fired his national security adviser, John Bolton.
On September 11, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed the view that Bolton’s resignation would not affect US foreign policy.
