In Skåne there are three pieces: The Culture of Lund, Malmö Museums and the Regional Museum in Kristianstad.

The basic funding for the county museums comes partly from state cultural grants distributed by the region and partly from respective municipalities. SVT has previously reported on the cuts in the cultural budget for Skåne.

According to Gustav Olsson, Museum Manager for Culture in Lund, the situation is bleak. Contributions have not increased in line with costs, which means that they are forced to save on other things. Among other things, fewer exhibitions can be expected in the future.

- Wages are a big part of our economy. Therefore, we will not hire new staff when retiring. This year it is about three services that will disappear, he says.

Expensive premises

However, personnel costs are not all that is saved. Property maintenance is also stalled when the swing belt is tightened. The culture has more than 60 cultural historical properties, where maintenance that is not urgent ends.

- If a window breaks, we can replace the glass, but we will not have the money, for example, to paint the windows in which the glass sits, says Gustav Olsson.

The problems at the Regional Museum in Kristianstad are also visible.

- Among other things, we look over our premises, they cost a lot. We have no staff reductions planned right now. We are working to try to find savings since the region has cut down on culture at all, says Anna Hansen, museum director at the Regional Museum in Kristianstad.
