Bit by bit, the internationally-terrorized jihadist group IS has had its territory torn out of its hands, and the group's self-proclaimed "caliphate" has been wasted. But despite this, the group continues to engage in guerrilla warfare and carry out attacks, both in Iraq and Syria, but also in other parts of the world.

The military efforts against IS also continue, and now the US-led coalition against IS publishes new images of aerial bombings against the group. In a video to be recorded Tuesday, you see how the island of Qanus in the river Tigris is suddenly lit by a series of fireballs, where large clouds of smoke rise towards the sky.

"We deny IS the opportunity to hide on the island of Qanus," Major General Eric T. Hill, commander of the coalition against IS, said in a statement.

- We create the conditions for our partners' strengths to continue to create stability in the region.

According to the coalition, efforts on the ground on the island followed what is described as a major meeting point for IS supporters en route from Syria to various areas in Iraq. The coalition's forces have used about 36 tons of bombs against IS on the island.
