After many trips around the planned 17 kilometer long overhead line between Hårleby and Edshutshall, it is clear that it will not be lost.

Last year, the Land and Environmental Court rejected Vattenfall's application to build the air power line. The Court wrote in its decision that the management would impose an excessive intervention on the environment. This is in agreement with the Land and Environmental Court - the higher court - who now rejects Vattenfall's appeal.

LRF is relieved of judgment

The protests have been strong among the Orust residents, who have said that it would, among other things, destroy the sensitive nature of the area. In addition to the 900 people who joined a Facebook group and opposed the construction, LRF, the Swedish National Farmers' Association, has been critical. The municipality, the county administrative board and the forest management board also said no. And after Wednesday's announcement, LRF is relieved.

- It feels good that they capture their reason, because the land we have we need to grow, so it feels good. It had destroyed crops and forests and taken up a lot of land, explains Anders Halleröd, chairman of LRF Orust.

LRF has struggled for a long time to stop the project, which meant that the management would, among other things, destroy several valuable conservation objects. The power line was also planned to cross valuable fields and pastures.

- But now we see what the next step will be. The cable must be buried in some way, so it will be the next fool, says Anders Halleröd.
