- Now we in the municipality will talk and decide where the showrooms should be located and where we want the parking ban and speed limit, says Jakob Olingdal and Andreas Lundqvist, who are traffic planners in Linköping and Norrköping respectively.

Want to start this fall

On Wednesday, the politicians in Linköping's community building committee were informed that the electricity company Voi wants to establish itself in the city. Two days before, the traffic engineer Jakob Olingdal had had his meeting with the company.

The same is true in Norrköping, where the company at a meeting in August told the municipality's traffic planners about their interest in starting their services in the city this fall.

- They want to start with a limited number of electric scooters, how many they thought have not been stated, says Andreas Lundqvist traffic planner in Norrköping.

500 - 600 pieces

In Helsingborg, which can be regarded as an even-sized city, the company initially tested 200 electric scooters in June and now has between 500 and 600 pieces deployed in the city.

- They mentioned a similar figure for us, says Jakob Olingdal in Linköping.

There is no need for a permit or approval to start, but the company would prefer to have a cooperation agreement with the municipalities. And such is Norrköping and Linköping right now designing.

Speeds and parking bans

The company needs places for setting up, "hotspots" that they want the municipality to provide.

Electric scooters have a maximum permissible speed of 20 km / h, but through the cooperation agreement you can further limit the speed, for example to walking speed that is 5-6 km / h.

- We are keen to do this in certain areas.

Establishment takes place in three stages

First you test in a limited geographical area, then in the inner city with a larger fleet, and finally with operations throughout the city.
