Staff at the construction site discovered the theft on Thursday morning and alerted police. The theft must have happened during the night. According to the police, they should have used angle grinders to get into the containers and then emptied them on tools that are estimated to be worth SEK 250,000.
- We have had at least a dozen identical thefts in Östergötland lately, there is a suspicion that there may be some form of organization around these thefts, he says.
According to the police, this type of theft is becoming more common and they are often difficult to investigate.
- There is a lot of movement at a construction site so it is difficult to do crime scene investigations and secure any possible tracks.
How to protect yourself?
- It is possible to have alarms in the containers but unfortunately it is relatively easy to get in, he says.
During the day, the police will conduct a technical investigation on the spot.
