“The military prosecutor’s office of the Vinnitsa garrison in the central region of Ukraine entered information into the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations due to fire and detonation of ammunition at a military base in Kalinovka. Criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (neglect of military service), ”the statement said.
It is clarified that a possible cause of the accident was the ignition of dry grass, which led to the detonation of ammunition. In total, about six explosions occurred.
Earlier in the warehouses of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in Kalinovka, Vinnitsa region, explosions were recorded.
In the fall of 2017, a fire occurred at the ammunition depot in Kalinovka, Vinnytsia Region, which led to the detonation of ammunition. According to Ukrainian media, as a result of the incident, up to 32 thousand tons of shells with a total value of $ 800 million could be destroyed.
