The forest shrub is a rare orchid that thrives in calcareous environments and can, if you are lucky, be found on mountain slopes or on roadsides. Tommy Brinksäter is a nature photographer and already last year he made an alarm to the municipality of Norberg that it was not right in the nature reserve.

- It was a pretty large stock, but now everything is gone. It's sad to see it and I'm damned, says Tommy Brinksäter.

Said before

This is not the first time that the unusual orchid has been destroyed in connection with the clearing of slime in the nature reserve. Tommy Brinksäter saw and told Norberg Municipality last year about what he had seen.

- I got the impression that they took it and then thought that they would be careful in the area, but now we see the result, he says.

Contacted SVT

When he did not receive a response from the municipality, Tommy Brinksäter chose to contact SVT Nyheter Västmanland, who then contacted the county administrative board in Västmanland who came with him out to the site.

- You see that a lot has been done wrong here and can be done much better. It is forbidden to damage the orchids. It can harm individuals so that they die. You can see that they have left much of the rice, which is not at all good for the plants that are there, ”says Kristina Hansson, nature conservation officer at the county administrative board in Västmanland.

Species Protection Violation

Species protection violates the rules that exist to protect wildlife and plants. In a police report regarding a species protection offense, a convict usually gives a fine, but in more severe cases also imprisonment. No decision on the notification is currently being made, but there may be some form of follow-up.

- The reserve is one thing, but since the forest cutting root is protected and covered by what we call species protection, this is also the question of the county administrative board. There are two parallel laws that are the issue here, ”says Kristina Hansson.
