It will be a question of proposing to the parents an "accompaniment course" as of the 4th month of pregnancy and until the second birthday of the child.

The government wants to launch in 2020 a "1000 day offer" to accompany parents and their baby during the first thousand days of the life of the child, from the fourth month of pregnancy, said Thursday the Secretary of State for Protection Childhood Adrien Taquet.

"Surinvest this time when many are played"

"In order to fight the inequalities of destiny, we want to over-invest this period when many are played," said Adrien Taquet in front of a few journalists, including AFP. This subject is one of Emmanuel Macron's main themes, which has focused in particular on the fight against the vocabulary deficit that manifests at an early age among children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The head of state is inspired by the advice of child psychiatrist Boris Cyrulnik.

It will be, according to Adrien Taquet, to offer parents an "accompaniment path" from the 4th month of pregnancy and until the child's second birthday, with services and advice in several areas such as nutrition , prevention against endocrine disruptors, exposure to children's screens, the impact of the arrival of the child on the couple, the birth of a premature or disabled baby, the father's place. They could be offered a set of services that would identify educational and health initiatives at national and local level via an internet application.

An additional financial envelope

For less than three years, the Secretary of State also wants to review the methods of available guards or review the operation of maternal and child health centers (PMI), struggling in some departments. In June, Adrien Taquet announced that an additional financial envelope would be voted in the 2020 budget of the Sécu, presented in the coming weeks, to support these structures and increase child health checks and home visits.

To develop the course 1,000 days in the coming months, he wishes to rely on scientific advice and the consultation of "1,000 parents". Adrien Taquet wants to involve public and private actors in this approach and draw inspiration from foreign experiences. He cites the example of Finland, which organizes about 15 appointments for new parents, including home visits to detect family problems.
