Several places in Kållered in Mölndal flooded during Tuesday evening due to heavy rainfall. The parking lot outside Ikea and several residential buildings were affected. According to the emergency services, about ten alarms came in during the evening. It has been moving up to 35 mm of rain for a short time.

E6 blocked

During Wednesday, the rain continued to fall, causing more problems on the already flooded roads at Kållered. The E6 between Kållered and Torrekullamot was closed in both directions due to the water masses. The traffic had to be redirected via the old national highway road 513.

Later in the evening, a lane opened in the north and one in the south. Many stormwater wells were filled after the heavy rain, which made the work take longer.

- It all depends on how quickly the water can run away. The drainage must take place throughout the area, says Josefine Gröndahl, at the Swedish Transport Administration.

Affected train traffic

Train traffic has also been affected by several canceled trains and delays due to the rainfall. Among other things, Kållered's commuter station has been filled with water.

"It is the remains of tropical hurricane Dorian that have come in," says SVT meteorologist Nils Holmqvist.

Continued problems on E6

During Thursday morning the situation at E6 started to get better. But still a lane in the northbound direction is closed. Accessibility at the site has been limited since Tuesday's rainfall, and will continue to be so for tomorrow's traffic on the way to Gothenburg south. The Swedish Transport Administration was unable to give an accurate forecast for when the second lane could be opened early in the morning.

- But things are going right this year, says Jesper Anderson at the Swedish Transport Administration.
