The inhabitants of a HLM tower in Avion, a town located in the Pas-de-Calais, are ready to leave their homes. In the face of repeated acts of vandalism, including fires, the mayor of the city had decided, in late August, to relocate the inhabitants of the building. The relocation operation began on Wednesday with a first move at 9:30.
Jean-Marc Tellier, the PCF mayor of Avion, explains, at the microphone of Europe 1, have made every effort to exfiltrate at best the 38 inhabitants concerned. "We have made proposals to 95% of the inhabitants of the tower and their move is scheduled.They are guaranteed to be relocated," reassures the mayor, who admits to have left three files pending. "We saw each other yesterday with the donors and we started to find solutions for these last three issues."

On the spot, the impatience is palpable. Marie-Thérèse, 64, is preparing for her move. This disabled retiree can count on her granddaughter, Coralie. "I do my best to help her because she can not make her cards herself," says the girl.
Locals relocated for free
Marie-Thérèse will move into a neighboring residence and will benefit from a ground floor unit adapted to her disability. All expenses are also covered by the HLM office. "In principle, we have nothing to pay other than the change of address.Even for the move, we have nothing to pay," rejoices Marie-Thérèse.
The retiree already feels more serene: she will finally be able to move into a "quieter" neighborhood. Because of the growing insecurity, she admits to "no longer being able to do otherwise". Her little girl is also reassured to see her grandmother leave the apartment. "I know she was not really safe here, sometimes she called us and she told us that there was a fire, and at almost 4 o'clock in the morning, she was coming down, she was in the rain with her slippers It was not a life, "she says.
