The best skaters in the world will compete from Thursday to Sunday in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for a milestone in the race to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020, where the discipline will make its great Olympic debut.

Skateboarding is part of the sports that include the Olympic program next year, along with surfing, climbing and karate.

Two Olympic skate events have been selected for the Olympics 2020, Park and Street.

This week in Sao Paulo, the 160 participants will play the equivalent of the Park Worlds, also known as the Bowl, with a dome-shaped course.

The route of the Street, it includes street furniture, as ramps and stairs.

In the Brazilian megalopolis, stars like American Shaun White, triple Olympic Winter Olympic Snowboard Champion, Pedro Barros, Asp Yndiara, Luiz Francisco, Heimana Reynolds, Misugu Okamoto or Sakura Yosozumi.

The Sao Paulo World Skate Park Skateboarding World Championship awards 80,000 points in the Olympic race, compared to 60,000 for the Pro Tour stages.

"We will give everything, it will be unheard of, everyone knows it's an important competition, it will be beautiful to see", told AFP the regional stage, the Brazilian Pedro Barros, number 1 world and eight times world champion.

Sao Paulo will also host a stop on the World Street circuit on September 21 and 22, with precious points for the Olympic race.
