During the day, about ten parents protested before the board held its meeting. They also distributed leaflets to show their dissatisfaction with the reorganization of Arboga's schools.

- Of course we understand that people are disappointed, but from the perspective we have, we try to do what is best for the children, says Richard Fallqvist (L), Vice Chairman of the Children and Education Board.

The committee will save about SEK 4 million

Many unauthorized teachers, no curator and an old building are some of the reasons why Medåkers school was closed down. By closing the school, the municipality will save about SEK 4 million. The school is expected to be closed down for the next academic year.

- I don't think we should talk about saving. It is a necessary investment that will be good in the end, says Fallqvist.

The final decision regarding Medåker's school is expected to be taken on October 24 at the municipal council. This is because the closure of the school is included in all proposals.

The future of the Nybyholm School will be decided on November 28

Whether it will be with other proposals that were discussed during the committee, a decision is expected at the municipal council on November 28. One of the schools' future that is then decided is Nybyholmsskolan. Either it will be a restructuring or liquidation, it all depends on which of the proposals goes through.

The youth coaches will disappear in Arboga, but Fallqvist says it will not affect the municipality's youth. Operations will be replaced by a changed working method and the responsibility for field work will lie with the Leisure and Cultural Committee.
