“The US’s attempts to reformat the political landscape of Latin America for itself, in the spirit of the revived Monroe Doctrine, are of deep concern,” the Foreign Minister said in an interview with the Suriname National Institute of Information.

According to the minister, the community of Latin America and the Caribbean is under serious pressure.

“Russia has consistently advocated for a politically unified and economically sustainable Latin America - only under this condition can the region establish itself as one of the pillars of a multipolar world order,” Lavrov emphasized.

In March, Lavrov commented on the words of the former adviser to the President of the United States on national security, John Bolton, about the Monroe Doctrine regarding Venezuela.

Then the minister noted that the politician mentioned the applicability of the doctrine to Venezuela, but insulted all of Latin America.
