This was reported by Kommersant, citing sources in Russian government agencies.

According to the newspaper, the last time Ukraine informed about plans to terminate bilateral agreements in the fall of 2018, however, none of these agreements was subsequently canceled.

At the same time, the last bilateral document that became invalid was the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Russia and Ukraine, which expired on April 1, 2019.

A similar situation has developed with the agreements of Ukraine within the CIS.

In particular, the executive committee of the organization reported that from May to July of this year, Kiev received six notifications of withdrawal from international treaties, which were sent by the previous government.

“Notifications came from the old government. Not so active, but walking. In August and September there was nothing, ”the source said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, in turn, explained this pause by the employment of the new government in Ukraine by solving personnel problems.

“Perhaps it was not before that. Now they will sit on the branches and decide what to do next. They either continue (the denunciation process. - RT ), or they slow down, ”the Russian Foreign Ministry official said.

He specified that further steps of the new Ukrainian authorities on this issue will help to understand the prospects for improving relations between the two countries.

In March, the Kremlin noted that the termination of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and Russia does not meet the interests of citizens of the two states.

In December 2018, Poroshenko signed the law on the termination of the friendship treaty with Russia, explaining this step by the desire to finally break with the “colonial past”.
