It was last week that in connection with the annual review of Ringhals 4, the dead eels were found. Something that Halland News was the first to tell. The eels are believed to have swam in via the basin outlet channel, in connection with an operation of the cooling water.

- We take in large quantities of cooling water from the sea, which is cleaned from seagrass and fish. The eels tend to be the ones that do the best. What made them dead is currently unclear, says Anna Collin.

It is at this time of year that the eel is active, and according to the Swedish University of Agriculture, it may have contributed to this amount of eels.

- This is so incredibly unfortunate, especially since eels are acutely endangered. We will now investigate and find out what happened and what we need to do to prevent it from happening again, ”says Anna Collin.
