Activists on social media circulated a video of an Egyptian woman eating from the garbage, and considered it additional evidence of the extent of poverty in Egyptian society.
Activists have already shared similar videos in recent months, blaming the government's policies, which they said widen the gap between Egypt's poor and rich.
About four months ago, the World Bank said in a statement that "about 60% of Egypt's population is either poor or more in need."
However, the statement considered that the economic reforms implemented by Egypt show early signs of success, which has ridiculed the platforms.
