Slovenian cyclist Primoz Roglic, current leader of the Tour of Spain, extended his contract with Jumbo-Visma until the end of 2023, the Dutch team announced on Tuesday.

"I like the way this team works," said the 29-year-old who came to Jumbo-Visma in 2016.

"I joined this team by being relatively new and I made progress thanks to her," added the former ski jumper.

"Primoz has progressed tremendously in recent years, as a person and as an athlete, as the rest of the team," said Merijn Zeeman, sports director of the Jumbo-Visma training, which announced the news in a video published on social networks.

Last month, the team recruited Dutch cyclist Tom Dumoulin, winner of the Tour of Italy in 2017, who missed the Tour de France and the Vuelta due to injury this season.
