At the seven largest banks in the Netherlands, it is possible to transfer money directly from Tuesday, the Dutch Payments Association reports. With this, the branch organization refers to ING, Rabobank, ABN AMRO, ASN Bank, Regiobank, SNS and Knab.
By introducing so-called instant payments, bank customers can now also transfer money directly at night, during the weekend and on public holidays. It is therefore no longer necessary to wait until the next working day. According to the payment association, the transaction does not last longer than five seconds.
The new payment option has been automatically added to mobile banking and internet banking. There is no limit on the amount of the transfer. According to the Dutch Payments Association, no more than 15,000 euros can be transferred directly to another account elsewhere in the euro zone
The banks have been working on the new payment system since 2015. The companies started connecting the first customers in April. With the new, fast system, according to the sector organization, the Netherlands is at the forefront of the number of fast payments in the euro zone.
