Answering a question whether the Kremlin agrees with statements that after Bolton’s resignation the chances of extending the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty increase, Peskov noted that Russia's position on the treaty is “well known”.

“This is an internal US affair. We do not interfere in this. Our position on the START Treaty is well known and has been repeatedly stated by the President of Russia, ”he said.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that he had dismissed Bolton.

In early July, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that START III would expire in early 2021.

According to him, Moscow still does not see the readiness of the United States to discuss the extension of the document or the development of a new agreement.
