Hunting care consultant Karl-Johan Brindbergs is on the shooting range and shoots clay pigeons when SVT News West gets in contact with him on Tuesday night. He gets upset when he reads the text about the hundreds of dead grass ducks that, along with feed barrels and cardboard boxes, are dumped in the forest outside Bäckefors in Bengtsfors municipality.

- Spontaneously I think it looks pretty sad. We may put ducks and we may shoot them, but if you are hunting, you should take advantage of what you shoot. Duck meat is good meat.

How do you see what happened?

- I understand that as a private person you get upset when you see these ends thrown into piles on the ground. I too, as a hunter, react strongly to this view.

Negative discussion

What can this lead to?

- It is clear that this leads to a negative discussion about hunting and hunting of vulnerable birds. There are those who want us to ban hunting of exposed birds and that discussion has been going on for several years.

How common is this?

- It's very unusual. In fact, I've never ever seen anything like it. Had they just taken care of the edible parts and then thrown the rest of the bird or buried them, I could have understood it.

How do you look at this?

- This is just crazy, I think.

Winged ends

He has a hard time believing that the grass ducks would be winged.

- I am skeptical that the ducks would be wing cut because you want a hunting bird to fly. We also set out ducks for hunting. We do this in the summer when they are four weeks and then we shoot them in the fall. We don't cut wings because it can harm the bird, ”says Karl-Johan Brindbergs.

According to him, landowners must begin to take greater responsibility for those who use the area.

- I want to see better cooperation between landowners and hunting rights holders.
