It is still unclear what type of projectiles are involved, but according to South Korea's military, they should have been fired from South Pyongan Province.

An official with the Trump office says the US government is aware of the information about the projectiles, and that it is continuing to monitor the situation.

Japan states that it has not confirmed any ballistic robot that has entered the country's territory or its economic zone.

Want new calls

The reports of the projectiles fired came just hours after North Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister Choe Son-Hui said the country could resume disarmament talks with the United States, provided the United States made proposals that North Korea could accept. According to Choe Son-Hui, calls could be made as early as September.

The last disarmament talks between the countries took place in Vietnam in February, but broke down when US President Donald Trump has rejected North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un's demand that the United States lift its sanctions in exchange for partial disarmament.
