Two real estate companies in Katrineholm have together received just over SEK 6 million in grants from the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning to improve the outdoor environment in selected neighborhoods where there was a need for upgrading.

"Hope's residents should feel proud"

- We hope that the residents here will feel a pride in their area and that it will be a place where they would like to spend time, says Susanne Skruf, chairman of the apartment building Katrineholm.

In total, the renovation on Oddergatan and Rönngatan has cost SEK 34 million and the money has gone to, among other things, improvements to courtyards, new barbecue and playgrounds, lighting and to remove obscure bush plantations to create a greater sense of security.

The investment has cost 34 million

"We have received SEK 4 million in grants from the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Administration and have themselves shot to 30 million," says Fredrik Ydevall, marketing manager at the apartment building in Katrineholm.

According to the property company, the outdoor renovation should not mean a rent increase for the residents.

- The idea with the entire investment and the contribution is that the residents can afford to stay.

Boverket distributed 1 billion

Between 2016 and 2018, at the request of the Government, Boverket distributed more than SEK 1 billion in financial support for better outdoor environments in socio-economically vulnerable areas around the country. The purpose was to improve and optimize outdoor environments in otherwise deprived areas.
