10 September 2019In July, industrial production continued to decline and recorded a drop of 0.7% both on a monthly basis and compared to July 2018 (which also had one more working day).

This was revealed by Istat, pointing out that the economic downturn has occurred for the second consecutive month, while in trend terms the minus sign has now recurred for five months.

With the exception of energy, all the main sectors of activity show reductions, with a particularly marked decline in capital goods.

Production of motor vehicles in July -14%
Car production in July fell by 14% on an annual basis. The Istat detects it by spreading the correct data for calendar effects. By June the fall had been even stronger.
