SVT News Halland has previously stated that the number of moped thefts in Halmstad has increased. But the pattern is the same throughout Halland.

In 2016, there were 186 moped thefts, in 2017 there were 249 and 2018 a total of 280. So far this year 130 mopeds have been stolen in the county.

SVT News Halland meets "Daniel" who has on several occasions received mopeds stolen from his home. In connection with the thefts he has also received threats, which means that he does not want to put up in our interview with picture and his real name.

The last moped stolen from him was found broken. And the moped before it was opened, which he found out through a snapchat video.

- It was my favorite scooter they burned up. I was really sketchy, he says.

"They do it to be tough"

The mopeds have been at home on the plot when stolen.

To prevent more theft from happening, there are now surveillance cameras on the front and back of the house. In addition, the gates to the house are now alerted.

- It affects financially, because you spend a lot of money on the mopeds, but get nothing back when they are stolen. You feel unsafe when there are people running in and taking things from us, he says.

Why are they doing this?

- I think they do it to be tough. Possibly to get money too, but if you fire up the mopeds there will be no money, he says.
