Today, there are eight companies that place thousands of electric scooters on the streets of Stockholm, and that is far too many, says Jan Valeskog (S) of the Opposition Citizens Council. He thinks it has become a huge problem with the electric scooters left everywhere in the city.

- It has gone too far, there are too many. It's pure anarchy. Traffic jams parked in traffic jams that are in the way of streets and squares must be thrown away, says Jan Valeskog.

City responsibility

Valeskog believes that the intention statement that the city has signed with the electric scooter companies that they should move on the electric scooter bicycles themselves does not work, but that the city itself must ensure that they are removed.

- There are opportunities for the city to take action, but the Helldén Traffic Citizens Council has refused. To him it sounds like there are no possibilities, but it is not true. There is legal support for urgently removing the traffic-parked electric scooters, says Jan Valeskog.

Valeskog says it is a matter of road safety.

- People should not risk dying because there are electric scooters everywhere.

Requires immediate move

Next week, the Social Democrats submit a letter to the municipal council asking them to immediately move the city to erroneously parked electric scooter bikes and that the cost should be invoiced to the companies. They also want the city's lawyers to find out if it is compatible with the municipal law that the City of Stockholm allows the companies to put electric scooter bikes on the sidewalks without getting paid for it.

- It is about the principle of equal treatment. If someone rents out bikes and has a place to do it, they must have a permit, but if you show them off anyway, there are no requirements. This is unreasonable and entrepreneurs must be treated in the same way, says Valeskog.
