The children's crops stolen: "I hope they get stomach ache"

Several kilos of edible pumpkin, leeks and carrots grown by low-school and special-school students and just about to be harvested in a festive event - that's where the thieves hit the Botanical Garden last week. And this is not the first time the association has been exposed to theft and sabotage.

Last week, the gardener Kenneth Danielsson was met with a sad sight when he came to his workplace at the Botanical Garden in Gothenburg, something that the magazine GP was the first to tell.

- I thought at first that the deer had arrived, but then I saw that everything was relieved in a way that made me understand that someone had driven there with a cart or stroller and harvested everything in the children's garden. I found two small pumpkins, but that was all that was left, he tells SVT News West.

The cultivations are done for educational purposes together with primary school students from two schools and students from a special school in the Gothenburg area. You would just have a harvest party and let the children take part in the crops.

- I hope that the person who committed the theft sees this and is so ashamed that they can not eat it or at least donate the food to someone who needs it. I hope it punishes itself, that you realize that it was not so good to take the children's vegetables and get stomach pain when eating it, says Kenneth Danielsson.

Has happened before

On Facebook, hundreds of upset Gothenburg citizens have become involved in the issue and many are angry over the theft that has affected children. It is not the first time the garden is affected.

- Unfortunately it has happened before and it feels so sad if we have to put up the fence and not be able to have it available as it is now, says Kenneth Danielsson.
