It was late on Thursday evening that everything went out for just over 8,000 subscribers in northern Halmstad.

"The single biggest power failure we have had," said Åsa Montan, communicator at the electricity company Halmstad's energy and environment to SVT the following day.

The power failure was caused by an explosion in Eon's switchgear outside Söndrum. After the electricity supply to customers was initially resolved provisionally, Eon announces on Monday that the switchgear is repaired and in full operation again.

But what caused the explosion is still not fully investigated.

- We have appointed an internal investigation. Before it's done, we can't answer what happened. But we think it may have been about a thunderstorm that was over Halmstad at this time, says Ivan Loftrup-Ericson.
