The death toll on the roads of metropolitan France jumped 17.9% in August with 290 people killed, 44 more than in August 2018, said Monday Road Safety. In the first eight months of the year, the authorities recorded 2,133 deaths on the roads, 35 more than the same period last year. The year 2018 ended with a "historic" drop in road deaths in mainland France (3,248 killed, 3,488 with Overseas).
