It is noted that on September 9 in Vienna a meeting of the coordinators of the Russian-American counter-terrorism dialogue was held under the co-chairmanship of Syromolotov and Sullivan.
“During the conversation, O.V. Syromolotov and J. Sullivan discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in combating terrorist threats, ”the Foreign Ministry said.
The parties held a thorough exchange of views on the most pressing issues of the antiterrorist agenda and key areas for further cooperation between Russia and the United States in this area.
The Foreign Ministry added that during the talks the mood was confirmed to continue constructive depoliticized work in the framework of the dialogue between the two countries.
Syromolotov said earlier that it’s too early to raise the issue of expelling the Taliban * from the UN terrorist lists.
* "Taliban" - the organization was recognized as terrorist by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of February 14, 2003.
