Other forecasts give slightly different numbers but all point to the same direction. Keeping the figures from TV 2's forecast in itself means that the Norwegian Social Democrats are making their worst local election in the party's history

The previous bottom listing for AP was in 2003 and the party then gained 27 percent.

The polling stations opened already on Sunday and the Norwegians have thus had almost two days to vote. In addition, a record number of early voters voted this year.

Right dissatisfied

According to forecasts, Høyre receives around 20 percent of the vote nationally, and thus backs just over 3 percentage points.

Nor does the party appear to be close to regaining power in Oslo or Trondheim. The Deputy Party Leader, Minister of Knowledge and Integration Jan Tore Sanner, is unhappy with the figures.

"We clearly have higher goals than this," he tells NRK.

In Bergen, the party must have the support of both the Progress Party, the National Action No more toll money and the Center Party in order to gain a majority, and in the forecast from Stavanger, Høyre and the bourgeois appear to lose their majority.

Protest against tolls

The one-party party People's Action No more tolls, which require sharply lowered tolls, appear to make a real election victory in Norway's second largest city of Bergen - according to preliminary figures, the party can get a full 18 percent.

But nationally, the party looks to get about 3.4 percent, and in the capital Oslo, the figures point to 6.4 percent of voter support.

The Center Party is making its best local election so far according to the forecasts and receives a total of 14.4 percent voter support, which is an increase of 5.9 percentage points since the last local election.

The Norwegian environmental party The Environmental Green Party (MDG) is also doing well, according to forecasts. The party looks to get 7.9 percent, which is 2.8 percentage points more than the party got in the last local elections 2015. In Oslo, MDG also looks to peel - according to forecasts, the party gets almost 17 percent of the votes there.

The Progress Party makes its weakest municipal election since 1991 and receives 7.9 percent according to TV 2's forecast. The party thus backs 1.6 percentage points.

The local elections have been held in 356 municipalities.
