Zero, kick-in and reception - the welcome of Uppsala University's new students has several names, and has over the years brought criticism for the sometimes insulting elements of the student rituals.

Uppsala Technological and Natural Sciences Corps is one of the corps that is actively working today to make the new students feel comfortable and feel good.

- We don't call it zeroing, but reception, where we try to work to make you feel welcome at university. It should not be as it has been before that one should deserve to go there, but it should be a welcome, says Per Elgh, chairman of the Uppsala Technological and Natural Sciences Society.

Possibility of criticism

There is also the opportunity to submit criticism if you feel that something has gone wrong, through a form that you can fill out and submit to the union.

Two new students who think the reception has been good are Berj Bedros and Niklas Surén.

- The sponsors follow us all the time and they are very nice, says Berj Bedros.
