09 September 2019The designated president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has formalized the list of commissioners appointed by the individual member states. Altogether the new community executive is composed of 14 men and 13 women.

Here is the list: Johannes Hahn (Austria); Didier Reynders (Belgium); Mariya Gabriel (Bulgaria); Dubravka Suica (Croatia); Stella Kyriakides (Cyprus); Věra Jourov (Czech Republic); Margrethe Vestager (Denmark); Kadri Simson (Estonia); Jutta Urplainen (Finland); Sylvie Goulard (France); Margaritis Schinas (Greece); Laszlo Trocs nyi (Hungary); Phil Hogan (Ireland); Paolo Gentiloni (Italy); Valdis Dombrovskis (Latvia); Virginijus Sinkievičius (Lithuania); Nicolas Schmit (Luxembourg); Helena Dalli (Malta); Frans Timmermans (Netherlands); Janusz Wojciechowski (Poland); Elisa Ferreira (Portugal); Rovana Plumb (Romania); Maros Sefcovic (Slovakia); Janez Lenarcic (Slovenia); Ylva Johansson (Sweden). Josep Borrell (Spain) was appointed by the European High Representative EU in agreement with Ursula von der Leyen (Germany).

Tomorrow von der Leyen will announce the distribution of portfolios and how he intends to organize the work of the next European Commission. The European Parliament must give its consent to the entire College of Commissioners, including the President and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. However, there will be hearings of appointed commissioners in the various competent parliamentary committees . Once the European Parliament has given its consent, the European Council will formally appoint the European Commission.
