The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the death of eight-year-old Muscovite Sasha Zhukova in a hospital in the Krasnodar Territory. The girl was resting with her grandparents in the village of Kanevskaya, and in the evening of August 17 complained of unbearable abdominal pain, after which her grandfather took her to the doctor.

“Between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. we were in the reception department of the Kanev Central District Hospital. Sasha’s stomach ached so much that she waved arms and legs in pain. The doctor on duty Afanasyeva began to say that our girl is hysterical and doesn’t behave like that because of pain in her stomach, ”Sasha’s grandmother Alla Rudenko tells RT.

According to the woman, the doctors sent the girl to an x-ray and made an anesthetic injection. After this, Rudenko assures, the doctors convinced her that nothing threatened her granddaughter, no surgical intervention was required, and the pain was caused by an infection.

“We were sent to the infectious diseases ward. There was a line: two mothers with young children. While we waited, Sasha lay on the couch, curled up. She said that she was starting to fall asleep and really wanted to go home. I decided to consult a doctor. She said that the granddaughter had nothing to worry about, and allowed her to go home. At the same time, she advised at home to make an enema and give two tablets of activated charcoal. I signed in the magazine about the refusal of hospitalization and at about one in the morning we returned home, ”recalls Alla Rudenko.

The girl’s elder sister, 21-year-old Valeriya Makarenko, tells RT that Sasha felt very sick in the morning, and as a result, grandparents took her granddaughter to the hospital again. According to Makarenko, the pediatrician examined the child in the admission department: he felt his stomach, checked his pulse and began to check the level of oxygen in the blood on a special device.

“However, this device was inoperative. The doctor went for a second device, but they did not find him. They gave a jar of urine. But Sasha could not stand on her feet - she was so weak. Grandfather took her in his arms and said that he would be lucky in the surgical department. There, she was immediately taken to the intensive care unit, ”Valeria recalls.

After some time, a resuscitator came to relatives. He said that the girl is in serious condition, they put a dropper on her and now they are preparing for surgery.

“On August 18, at about 12 noon Sasha was taken for surgery. An hour and a half later, a doctor came to us and said that he underwent abdominal surgery, as the child had a small intestine inversion, ”says Alla Rudenko.

At the same time, according to the grandmother, the doctors said that they managed to expand the intestines: there was no necrosis.

“I said that the granddaughter should be taken to Krasnodar. But the doctors claimed that such a decision was possible only on Monday, when all the doctors went to work. The next day, August 19, at 9:30 the doctors gathered. But it was too late. At 9:50 our girl died, ”Alla Ivanovna cries.

The Ministry of Health of the Krasnodar Territory told RT that an audit is being conducted on this fact. At the same time, the department noted that all the necessary equipment was serviceable and accessible to medical personnel.

“The diagnosis of small bowel inversion is carried out on the basis of a comprehensive assessment of the results of instrumental, laboratory research methods, as well as the clinical picture that develops in the next few hours from the moment of the disease in the process of dynamic monitoring of the patient in a hospital,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Health told RT .

The ministry also said that the inversion of the small intestine can be caused by a congenital malformation of the intestine or anatomical features of its structure. It is one of the options for a whole group of diseases called intestinal malrotation. At the same time, clear signs of malrotation are found in only one of 3,000 infants, the ministry added.

In turn, Alexander Bryantsev, deputy director for medical work (chief physician), leading scientific associate, candidate of medical sciences, and a pediatric surgeon of the highest category at the Research Institute for Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology told RT that it is very difficult to diagnose small bowel inversion and this can only be detected with operations.

Meanwhile, the regional unit of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence due to improper performance by a person of his professional duties).

“Currently, the criminal investigation is ongoing. A forensic medical examination has been appointed and is being carried out by the investigation, investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the incident, including the perpetrators of the crime, ”the press service of the IC told RT.

Relatives of the deceased girl believe that doctors could save her if they immediately underwent laparoscopy on the child’s first night.

“14 hours the little sister was not diagnosed. Time was lost, and when Sasha died, they didn’t apologize to us, nor did they say any condolences, ”says Valeriya Makarenko.

The Kanevskaya Central District Hospital did not comment on the situation.
