There are many professions that lack the labor needed for the fall and until spring 2020, according to the Employment Service's forecast for the time period.

- The shortcomings are quite persistent over time. Although unemployment is rising, there will be a need for labor in these occupations, says Ida Karlsson, labor market analyst at the Employment Service.

Calling for civil engineers

The forecast is based on employers' difficulties in hiring services with the right skills and shows that it will be difficult to get jobs in professions with little or no education. This applies to jobs such as assistants, shop sellers, caretakers and receptionists. At the university level, it is most difficult to get jobs as a bank official, real estate agent, communicator and journalist.

On the other hand, the labor market is gaping for labor in other occupations at both the university and other levels of education. Employers across the country are calling for civil engineers, preschool teachers, IT specialists, doctors, teachers and nurses. Occupations in construction and civil engineering, electricians, automotive mechanics, chefs, truck drivers, underage nurses and plumbing technicians are also in great need according to the forecast.

High school important

There are local differences. For example, there is a shortage of pharmacists in Jönköping, in Gävleborg missing bakers and confectioners, in Dalarna aid assessors, on Gotland more soldiers are needed and Skåne has a shortage of occupational therapists.

- There is some variation between the counties, but most of the professions listed are needed throughout the country. What you can also see is that in many of these professions education plays a crucial role. So the most important thing you can do for yourself if you want to get a job, is to finish high school, says Ida Karlsson.
