“During the discussion of the prospects for resolving the intra-Ukrainian conflict, the lack of alternativeness of the Minsk“ Package of Measures ”as the basis for settlement was emphasized. Mutual attitude was confirmed to continue constructive joint work within the framework of the "Norman format," the Kremlin said in a statement.

In the conversation, attention was drawn to the need for Kiev to fulfill the agreements that were reached in Paris and Berlin in 2015 and 2016. They include the withdrawal of forces and assets in the agreed sections of the contact line.

In addition, the parties discussed the situation around the Iranian nuclear deal. Putin and Macron advocated joining forces to maintain the JCPOA.

“The heads of state agreed to continue contacts - both by telephone and during personal meetings,” the Kremlin noted.

Earlier, Macron announced plans to hold a meeting of Norman leaders in September.
